Town Center is an area of downtown Brentwood along Franklin Road between Old Hickory Boulevard and Church Street that is slated for redevelopment.
The idea to redevelop the area originated with the Leadership Brentwood class of 1999. Leadership Brentwood is a program of the Brentwood Cool Springs Chamber of Commerce to educate community leaders about the city where they live or work.
The Town Center project would involve redeveloping the area so that there would be additional opportunities for nice shopping, dining and offices. The City of Brentwood endorsed the idea in 2004, but few projects have begun since then. One new project, which included a new location for Pinnacle Bank on Franklin Road, was being constructed in the fall of 2009.
A group called Citizens for Town Center was created in 2009 to advocate for faster progress on the project.
The Brentwood City Commission also held a hearing in the summer of 2009 on the possible use of Tax Increment Financing to support the project.
