Brentwood is a city in Williamson County that borders Davidson County (Nashville) on the north and the Williamson County seat of Franklin on the south.

The first settlers came to the Brentwood area in the late 1700’s, according to a history published on the city's Web site. Much of the land was granted to Revolutionary War soldiers by the State of North Carolina.

Brentwood is governed by a seven-member city commission. The day-to-day operations of the city are run by a city manager.
