David Green

David Green is a co-founder of Civic Scope and is also the owner of David Green Communications.

David has assisted top companies develop strategic public relations campaigns that have enhanced reputations and helped build brands. He has keen insight into the thinking of media decision-makers, having served as a key news executive at a major metropolitan newspaper and Web site for 15 years.

In addition to his consulting work, he serves as editorial director of Global Navigation -- an affiliate of Corporate Board Member magazine -- which provides board directors at publicly held corporations with thought leadership about doing business in China.

David has given advanced training to professional writers around the country on sharply focusing their messages and telling their stories in clear, compelling ways.

As managing editor of The Tennessean, Nashville's daily newspaper, he oversaw the planning and execution of content for all sections of the Web site and newspaper and led a staff of 190 professional journalists. He spoke frequently to community groups and sat on the company's operating and marketing committees.

David has also led investigative reporting teams, one of which won a Pulitzer Prize. He was named the outstanding journalist in Knight-Ridder, Inc., which then owned 27 newspapers, including some of the largest and most prestigious in the country.

David received his B.A. in government from Cornell University. He spent a year studying in the M.B.A. program and law school at the University of Michigan as part of a prestigious mid-career fellowship.

He is a graduate of Leadership Nashville. He is on the board of the American Marketing Association and is a member of the Brentwood Cool Springs Chamber of Commerce.He is a member of 2009-2010 class of Leadership Brentwood.
