Second Harvest Food Bank

Second Harvest Food Bank of Middle Tennessee has a network of locations, partners and programs involved in providing free food to people in need. The organization collects donations and then distributes food and other products to about 400 not-for-profit partner agencies in 46 counties in Midde and West Tennessee. Partners include food pantries, soup kitchens, shelters, foster care facilities, senior centers, group homes and youth enrichment programs. Emergency Food Box Program

Second Harvest manages an Emergency Food Box program to feed individuals and families on an urgent need basis at multiple sites throughout Middle Tennessee. Those needing assistance should bring Social Security cards for each member of the household and an item with their address on it such as a piece of mail,bill or lease. Persons who do not have a social security number can still receive a food box.

An emergency food box provides two to three days worth of staple food items based on the number of members in a household. The boxes contain non-perishable items such as canned vegetables, canned fruits, canned meat, macaroni & cheese, rice, beans, peanut butter, cereal and crackers. For more information on the Emergency Food Box program call 615-329-3491. 

Davidson County
There are 15 Emergency Food Box sites in Davidson County. Food for the program is provided through many sources including individual, corporate and organizational food drives, collection barrels at the county's Kroger and Food Lion grocery stores, and community-wide food drives such as the Tennessee Titans Food Drive, the Nashville Predators Food Drive and the Letter Carriers' Food Drive.
