Easy guide to writing for Civic Scope

 Step 1: Create a page

Simply click on "Create a NewPage" on the top bar of the website.

Instructions will come up. Just enter a name for your page between two and five words. The first letter of each word should be capitalized and there should be no spaces between words. For example: CivicScope. This is called "Camel Case."

Select a page type. Topic and category pages can be edited/changed by anyone. Business/organization profiles and personal profiles can only be edited by the person who created them or people he/she designates.

When you click the "Create a new page" button at the bottom, a page will come up for you to begin writing.

Step 2: Write the article

Start writing under the headline.

Switch to text ("normal") style in the scroll box in the upper left hand corner if the editor does not automatically do it for you.

If you need to use headings within the article, select from medium (Heading 2 or 3) or small headings (Heading 4 or 5).. Medium headings should be used for main sections.Small headings should be used for sub-sections.

Think of the words a person might use to search for your article and try to use them as much as possible within your article, while still making it readable. The more those keywords appear in your text, the higher Google will rank it when returning search results.

Another tip: If you want to move down one line hold down shift when you press the 'enter' key. Otherwise a new paragraph will be started.

Step 3: You're almost done

Hit the "store" button and your article will be immediately posted on Civic Scope. If you want to make some more changes, just edit the page again. Remember to always press "store" when you are done editing.
