100 Oaks Mall

100 Oaks Mall as it used to look
|
100 Oaks Mall, located off I-65 south of downtown Nashville, was the first indoor mall in Nashville when it opened in the 1960s. As competition grew over the years, first from the
Green Hills Mall,
Bellevue Mall,
River Gate Mall,
Cool Springs Galleria,
Hickory Hollow Mall,
Opry Mills Mall, and then others in Nashville, 100 Oaks began to suffer from store vacancies.
A plan to transform the mall was announced in 2007, when
Vanderbilt University Medical Center said it would use 440,000 square feet of space at the mall as a healthcare facility. The Medical Center opened a pediatric rehabilitation unit at the mall in February of 2008 and planned further expansion to include a Breast Center, Center for Surgical Weight Loss, Center for Women's Imaging, Cytogenetics, Dermatology, Interventional Pain Clinic, Medical Infusion, Multiple Sclerosis Clinic, Obstetrics and Gynecology, University Pediatrics, Hospital Patient Accounting and the Vanderbilt Medical Group Business Office.
The Nashville mall, which planned to continue to lease some of its space for retail stores, is owned by Frank Mihalopoulos and Tony Ruggeri. The largest movie theater in the Nashville area is located next to the mall.
