Kentucky Lake

Kentucky Lake is located northwest of Nashville along the Tennessee-Kentucky border. It is home to many varieties of fish and numerous boat docks and ramps are located in its coves.

Land Between the Lakes National Recreation Area is located on the eastern shore of Kentucky Lake. Also located on the lake are four state parks, the Tennessee National Wildlife Refuge, 48 public access areas, and two state wildlife management areas. There are resorts and campsites, areas for swimming and picnicking, and a back-country area for off-road vehicles.

Created by the damming of the Tennessee River, Kentucky Lake is a major producer of hydroelectric power.

The Kentucky Dam Visitor Center is open to the public from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday through Friday except for major holidays.

Kentucky Lake features many varieties of fish, including largemouth and smallmouth bass, catfish, bluegill, sauger, and crappie.

Kentucky Lake is operated by the Tennessee Valley Authority, which offers a 24-hour automated service providing information on predicted and observed reservoir levels, unregulated stream flows (streams without dams), and predicted and observed water releases from TVA dams. The number for that service is 800-238-2264.

Vacation homes and other residential real estate are situated convenient to Kentucky Lake.
