The downtown structure, completed in 2001, was built in a modern classical style and features 300,000 square feet of space. Aside from its regular collections of books, periodicals and other materials, the library also boasts several special collections. These include the Civil Rights Oral History project, the Veterans History project and the Nashville Banner archives.
