This was written about me, not by me. I don't tend to refer to myself in third person. Nor am I comfortable using so many adjectives to describe my work. So, rather than having a bio that says simply: writer and editor based in Nashville, Tennessee, I asked someone who has known my work for decades to write About Me.

For more than two decades, Sandy Smith has maintained a through line of dependability, attention to detail and solid know-how while expanding her expertise in writing, editing, management, research and website development.
From humble beginnings as a newspaper reporter at The Tennessean in Nashville, Smith quickly showed her ability to take on diverse tasks while covering hard news, entertainment, business, issues and politics. She rose through the ranks to manage a staff of close to 50 workers in addition to overseeing the start-up and operations of numerous sections and special publications for the paper.
In 2007, after 20 years with the organization, Smith chose to pursue a full-time freelance career. Since that time, she has written two books, begun work on a third, and balanced out her days with pieces for a variety of magazines, industry conference dailies and websites. In addition to writing, she has also worked in marketing, consulting, designing, posting, editing and overseeing a variety of websites for different clients.
Smith excels at quickly grasping new topics and fully embraces new challenges. Hers is a world waiting to be explored—and her career, further expanded.
